Amazing episode from Jennifer Massolo from Liquid Projects based out of Miami, we chat about her journey of always being ahead of the game when it comes to drinks trends over the last 20 years. She has been at the forefront of pushing craft spirits into the limelight not just in Florida but across the US. Her passion for the industry is so amazing and infectious, had a great chat with them.

WHO IS JENNIFER MASSOLO?

Growing up in Vancouver, Canada, in what Jen describes as the genesis of her love of fine foods, and beverages, she attributes this penchant to her family’s affinity for entertaining and her father’s whiskey collection and wine and cocktail making endeavors.

Soon after college, however, it was her position with the French sprits giant, Remy Amerique, when her professional vocation in the industry began.  After four years, Massolo went on to accept a position with the Chilean winery giant Concha y Toro, where she was in charge of education and two separate distribution divisions.

By 2001, she had made her way from Western Canada to Chile, then onto Miami.  Massolo joined what was then a budding South Florida organization to become a founding member of the Miami International Wine Fair.  Setting the path for the many successful years that followed, she returned to this leading wine trade event as executive director for the 2010 and 2011 edition.

In 2012, Massolo branched out on her own and created The Liquid Projects, LLC (TLP), a beverage consulting and event planning company.   The industry at the time revealed an emergence of budding artisan distillers and brewers that were struggling for a voice in a big-brand dominated industry.  Out of her passion for supporting these artisans, Massolo started CRAFT: Spirits and Beer, a tasting event that created a platform for these artisans to connect with and educate both the beverage industry and the general public.  TLP began as a blog (Spirited Sirens) to bring about awareness of food, drink and travel but has now developed into a consulting service for the hospitality industry.  This has taken many shapes such as large scale bar development for Marriott Hotels, smaller boutique hotels such as Circa 39 in South Beach, as well as brand building for budding craft distillers. TLP’s latest accomplishment is Bar Journe, a unique speakeasy, fine and rare cocktail bar in the F.P.Journe watch boutique in downtown Miami.
